The Greensboro Science Center, a science museum and zoological park was founded in 1957 as a part of a movement by the local Parks and Recreation Department. It was formerly known as the Natural Science Center of Greensboro, originally the Greensboro Junior Museum until 1989.
The center’s objective focuses on education, curiosity, and exploration of natural sciences through a dynamic family-focused program with its unique triad of attractions including: a zoo, an aquarium, and a museum. By the year 2020, the center will complete its expansions and upgrades that will feature a world-class science museum, a high-tech OmniSphere Theater which is a full dome theatre where visitors experience everything from the starts to coral reefs, and even new expansions to the zoo and aquarium. It includes the Animal Discovery Zoological Park, home to animals including tigers, Bennett's wallabies, white-nosed coati, meerkats, black howler monkeys, and Nile crocodiles, and is designed to showcase the "Science of Survival." Attractions within the zoo include Friendly Farm, Kavanagh Discovery House. and the Davis Kelly Fountain of Youth and Discovery. The Museum includes a temporary dinosaur gallery, SciPlay Bay, Time Warner Cable's Extreme Weather Gallery, HealthQuest, and touch labs that include live snakes, lizards, and invertebrates. And the Carolina SciQuarium is an aquarium that features animals including stingrays, African penguins, otters, fishing cats, sharks, mata matas, and moray eels.

205 Collaborative is a collective of various artists under one roof. It has 30 studio spaces that house artists in all arenas featuring painters, sculptors, metal smiths, wood workers, photographers, graphic designers, stone workers, potters, jewelry-makers, actors, music producers, film makers and everything in between. Every Second Saturday from 10am-4pm, they host an open gallery and working studios. It is an ideal place to visit for wannabe artists.
